Craftsmanship
is still alive and well
Hi, my name is Doug, and my favorite activity is creating with my hands. I enjoy the creative process. I love beginning with an idea, whether it be mine or the customers’, picking out materials, figuring out where to place them, and then seeing that image come to life.
Handmade and custom created items are making a come back. Our society has been filled with mass produced items that have no individuality. With the growth of industry and factories, more products were being pumped out faster and more efficiently. However, the creativity and the feel of having something unique and one of a kind was lost. It was as if mass production ate the craftsman, but it’s making a come back.
I started Tall Oak Creations because I love the creative process. Be it the items I make, or the photos I take of them, it’s all a part of making something beautiful out of raw materials. Each one has a unique character of its own.
What originally began as a hobby to pass the time during a Covid-19 lay-off in 2020, quickly gained attention from friends and family. I began receiving requests, so I set up shop in my garage to begin creating. It has been an amazing experience. To see people wearing my rings or using my pens, its an honor to make something one of a kind for people to be proud to use or wear. It’s one of the biggest rewards of creating things with your hands.
